What does that even mean? I tried to look it up and Wikipedia gave me no answers other than it’s commonly used for the Christmas season. But it just says “season” so shouldn’t I be able to use it for any season? I DON’T UNDERSTAND.
Hahah okay I think I’m procrastinating because I don’t exactly know what to do for my November TBR. I think I should have really low expectations for myself because apparently, I’m just terrible at completing my monthly TBRs. But I don’t want to have low expectations, that’s no fun.
OOOH I JUST DECIDED WHAT I’M GOING TO DO. My psych class just finished studying Maslow, so in honor of him, I am going to have a Reading Pyramid TBR. It would be really cool if this post was pyramid shaped, but I am in no way cool enough to create such a post so it’s a metaphorical pyramid.
First Tier: The books I am currently reading.
The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
I can’t decide how I feel about this book. I’m enjoying reading it but I don’t know that I like it. I need to process. Hopefully the second half will let me do juuust that. I’m guessing it will because it’s not a terribly stimulating read.
Pages: 661
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
I’m audiobooking this one at the moment. It’s crazy. Again, I don’t love it. But I definitely like it. It’s a perspective on war that is completely Vonnegut’s own. Anywho, I’m about 2/3 of the way through so I’ll be done with this soon too!
Second Tier: A book I REALLY WANT TO READ and a book that I can listen to (AKA books that should be easy to get through).
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I have wanted to read this since I started my blog, but I don’t think I’ve been ready to start it until now. I have actually picked it up and almost started it a few times even though I’m already reading other books. Which is crazy for me. I never do that. But I’m officially ready, so I will absolutely be reading this one this month.
Pages: 404
Emma by Jane Austen
I want to finish all of Austen’s books. Emma and Northanger Abbey are the only ones I have not yet read I believe, and they’re all in the public domain so free audiobooks are really easy to find!
Pages: 474
Third Tier: The book that is the entire point of reading in November.
WINTER by Marissa Meyer
Yes I know it’s not supposed to be in all caps because technically that’s not the title. But I’m excited so it’s reflecting my excitement. OH MY GOODNESS. IT’S ALMOST HERE. November freaking 10th. As in, 9 days from now. Actually 8 because this post will go up tomorrow. AHHHH. Did anyone even get ARC’s for this because I haven’t seen any reviews so I’m going to assume that’s a no. But I hope it’s amazing. I’m actually a bit nervous because WHAT IF IT’S NOT?! But it will be. Right? RIGHT?
Pages: 800 (what?! YES)
Fourth Tier: Some nice, quick, hopefully fun reads.
Goosebumps by R.L. Stine
Goosebumps by R.L. Stine
Goosebumps by R.L. Stine
So I have a confession to make. I have never read a Goosebumps book. And I saw the movie and I loved it and have been inspired. I know these are kids books but I just feel like they’re a necessary part of a reader’s life experiences. Or something to that effect. I figure 3 of them is a fair number to have read. These happen to be the first three in the series, but I’ll read any 3 I can get my hands on easily.
Fifth Tier: The book that I’m fairly certain will be the death of me.
Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin
I’m determined to finish this but I pick it up and I’m like *tears* because there is so much more to go. And it is actually a really good book. I genuinely want to read it. It’s just an extreme challenge. Oooh a challenge. I wonder if I’ll finish it faster if I think of it as a challenge? Anyway, this is the tippy top of the pyramid so I will finish it if I finish allll the others.
Pages: 754
Me: 39%
If I finish all of these I’ll be back up to 9 books! I’d be a very happy camper. Wish me luck. Readyyy, set, GO.
I’ll write again soon! Until then, keep reading.
J. Bookish
I’ve started reading Throne of Glass…and I’m kind of loving it. It took me a little while to get in to it, but now I can’t read it fast enough.
I saw the Goosebumps movie too, and I thought it was so delightful! I left the theater with a huge grin on my face. I only read a few Goosebumps books when I was younger– I much preferred the Give Yourself Goosebumps series, which was a series of choose your own adventure books. Lots of fun!

Ooh I’m glad you’re loving it haha it’s so hyped up I’ve been really nervous about reading it. It’s safe and possibly amazing sitting on my shelf. Actually reading it opens the door of potential disappointment. Haha wasn’t it so cute?! I was nervous it was going to be stupid but I thought they did a really good job. Inspired me to read the books myself haha

Team of Rivals actually sounds really cool. And I only remember reading one Goosebumps book when I was 8/9, and it was the living dummy one, and it creeped the crap out of me and I didn’t want to read another one.

It is fascinating, the author has done an incredible amount of research. It’s just daunting because it’s HUGE. Haha! That probably would have happened to me too! I’m hoping I’m old enough to handle them now :)

YOU HAVE JOINED THE OTHER SIDE — THE SIDE OF TOG READERS. WE ARE NOT ON THE SAME TEAM ANYMORE (SOON, AT LEAST).

I had to sit and figure out what TOG was. Acronyms will be the death of me.
You don’t want to read them??

Not “don’t” but TBRs and other stuff and other stuff and other stuff — and so it isn’t read LOL.

Fair. The smartest thing to do would be wait until the whole series has been released! Then there’s no next-book agony. I already bought it because Amazon and inexpensive and pressure… so now it’s just staring at me waiting

I’m so so so happy that she just crammed the whole ending into a huge final book instead of making us wait for a fifth!! I can’t wait. Levana’s gotta GO

Season’s greetings to you too! :D Audiobooking the classics is genius! I was listening to War and Peace a few months ago, had found an amazing audio recording of it on YouTube. Unfortunately that got deleted and up till now, I haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement. So, in the meantime I’ve listend to Lord of the Flies instead, which is on YouTube too. Let me know if you find a good audiorecording of Emma, would like to listen to that one too! Good luck with your November TBRs! :D

Thank you! Hahaha. I YouTube my audiobooks too I hate it when they get deleted!! I usually use this site who records them for the public domain, i can’t remember what it’s called now but it used to be called “Books Should Be Free” and if you google that it takes you to the current site!

GOOSEBUMPS!! AHHH XD I love Goosebumps, I grew up reading them. I actually went and saw the movie this weekended – which is actually a funny story. I didn’t get to finish the movie, we had a city wide power outage while in the middle of the film. The screen shut off and the emergency lights kicked on and then we were all evacuated and given free movie tickets. But, anyways… haha.
Also, Throne of Glass <3 Sarah J. Maas is bae. All of her books are to die for.

You make me laugh, Jordyn! I am very impressed that you are reading Team of Rivals! Not an easy read (I haven’t read it yet but may dive in some day). I’ll look forward to your review of “The Other Boleyn Girl” as that on is on my list, too!
