Tag Week Day 2: Fall Time Cozy Time Book Tag!

Hello friends!

It’s Day 2 of Tag Week, and I’m going to do another tag about fall! Yippee! Are there any winter tags floating around? If there are, I have yet to see them…

Today’s tag is The Fall Time Cozy Time Book Tag! Can I just say, am I the only one who thinks the name of this tag is ridiculous? No offense to the creator, but I think just one or two descriptive words would have been good. However, I do think this tag is very cute and I’m excited that I was tagged by TWO wonderful bloggers: Deana @ A Novel Glimpse and Astra @ A Stranger’s Guide to Novels (P.S. Astra?! That’s a gorgeous name!).

Crunching Leaves:

The world is full of color. Choose a book that has reds, oranges and yellows on the cover.

The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. I know a lot of people don’t like this book because they think Holden is a poop head. But I really enjoyed it. I think it’s a really true portrayal of a teenager. Holden has messed up, he doesn’t really know who he is, and he’s struggling with who everyone else wants him to be. If you say you’ve never felt like that, you’re lying to yourself, because teenage years are terrible. Trying to be an adult when you’re not is a reality that I think is highly resonant in this novel, but is skimmed over in a lot of young adult novels. Teenagers are so overly capable I often identify them with my 23-year old self, and that was not the case with Holden. So, erm, back to the question.. look at that red and yellow cover… ;)

Cozy Sweater:

It’s finally cold enough to don warm cozy clothing. What book gives you the warm fuzzies?

Apparently, I don’t really read “warm and fuzzy” books, because I just went through my “Read” bookshelf on Goodreads like: no, no, no, no, NO, haha no, no aaand no.

Sooo, I’m going to go with Born in Fire by Nora Roberts. Now I am not typically a reader of romance novels, but this is a three-book series set in Ireland and I LOVE it. Robert’s writing is vivid and beautiful, I love all of the characters, and I’m fascinated by the Irish landscape. The main character in this book, Maggie Concannon, is a glass blower and the descriptions of her art are stunning as well. I just love everything about this book. I highly recommend it for a fall read!

Fall Storm:

The wind is howling and the rain is pounding. Choose your favorite book OR genre that you like to read on a stormy day.

I just like to read when it’s stormy. I know this is a boring answer, but I could pick up any genre and feel like rainy weather fit it perfectly. I guess if I HAVE to choose, I’d say fantasy. Or maybe thriller. A fantasy thriller? Six of Crows. ;)

Cool Crisp Air:

What’s the coolest character you’d want to trade places with?

The thing is. I think lots of characters lives are awesome. But if I were to live them, that would be a whole lot of pressure and grief and terror that I could really do without, to be honest. I’m tempted to say Alice from Alice in Wonderland, but I’d get frustrated with all that nonsense pretty damn quickly. My favorite character is Tyrion Lannister but there is no way I’d want to change places with him! Ahhhh this is such a hard question. Okay. Hermione Granger is my final answer. I don’t care that her life is terrifying, I want to be her. Yes. Hermione for me.

Hot Apple Cider:

What under hyped book do you want to see become the next biggest, hottest thing?

I don’t have an answer for this. For a couple of reasons. One, I like to read those books that are on all of the “books everyone should read before they die” lists, which are obviously not under hyped. Two, lately I’ve been madly trying to catch up with all of the amazing series that have been released while I was living under a rock. Three, I secretly like to be a little bit of a hipster with the things that I love. I don’t want them to blow up and get ruined. *insert me whining about finding it first*

Coat, Scarves and Mittens:

The weather has turned cold and it’s time to cover up. What’s the most embarrassing book cover you own that you like to keep hidden in public?

Hahah I intentionally don’t buy books that have embarrassing covers. I’ve been holding off on reading The Mortal Instruments series because I’m sorry, but the covers are ridiculous! I refuse to be seen in public with this:

It looks like a giant rendition of the scene when the Beast turns back into a prince in Beauty and the Beast and all of the light shoots out of his toes. In a less G-rated manner.

Pumpkin Spice:

What’s your favorite fall time comfort food/foods?

FOOOOD. My favorite. I’ve been really into broccoli cheddar soup from Panera Bread lately, it is amazing. My boyfriend and I also like to cook Tombstone pizzas and devour them. Aaaand I love me some hot cocoa with cool whip. MMMM MMM GOOD.
