Tag Week Finale: Seasons of Book Blogging Tag

Hello lovely bookish people!

To wrap-up tag week, I made my very own tag. It’s kind of silly but I’m very excited about it. I haven’t been tagging anyone this week because I’m going to tag everyone who commented on a post during the week to do this tag! I hope you enjoy it :)

I’m not sure if I’m supposed to answer the questions myself? But I’m going to. Because WHY NOT.

November is the month when we’re reminded of how much we have to be thankful for. Choose one book you’re grateful for having read and give a shout-out to the person who recommended it!

You all know I love Leigh. But I wasn’t sure I really wanted to read Six of Crows until I saw Samantha @ Reed’s Reads & Reviews post on it. Let me just say she was a tiny bit excited about it. ;) Anyway, it definitely made me really curious about the book and I am SO glad I decided to read it because it is wonderful.

December is a time when friends and families come together and celebrate. Name one book you would give as a gift.

Full disclosure, I am not religious. But I think this book is fantastic for anyone who is or is not religious. It is unbelievably thought-provoking. It’s a quick read and I think it prompts some really important questions about what you believe that everyone should think about. I highly recommend this one for all adults.

January begins a new year. Name a resolution you made this year and if you’ve kept it or not!

I don’t actually make New Year’s resolutions. But I’d like to! So my resolution is that next year I’m going to make resolutions. And I will be keeping it. MMHMM. ;)

February is the month for relationships. Name your favorite book relationship: romantic, platonic, or familial, your choice!

This is such a hard question. I can’t believe I’m asking you guys to answer it. BUT I am all about important family relationships and my dad is one of my favorite people in the whole world, so I’m going to go with Scout and Atticus. I think their relationship is the reason I love this book so much. I haven’t read Go Set a Watchman yet and I’m very nervous about it, but regardless of how things change, Atticus was an incredible father.

March is the month for luck and new beginnings. Name a book or series that you would like to re-experience as if you’d never read it.

I can’t even explain why I love this book so much. I just do. I read it for the first time last year, and I was completely absorbed in the story. It was a heart-wrenching experience and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

April is a spectacularly ordinary month. Name a book that was so over-hyped that it just could not live up to your expectations.

*Cough* *Cough*. I’M SORRY. I really liked the story, but I had a lot of issues with the writing and I just had SUCH high expectations because I’ve heard nothing but good things, so it really fell flat for me. I am going to continue reading the series in the hopes that it gets better.

May is the month when the flowers start to bloom. Name a book that was a pleasant surprise to you.

I heard about the Lunar Chronicles long before I read them. I listened to the first like three minutes of the audiobook and discovered Cinder was a cranky cyborg and was like uhmm no. But then they kept popping up, so I gave it a more than three-minute chance and discovered I had been SO WRONG. I am so happy I read these books, I think they’re so unique and creative and Cinder is now my favorite character. Bad judgy Jordyn.

June is the time to take a break. Name a book or genre that you like to read when you just need to check out.

I like to read YA and Romance when I need a break from life. My favorite books are those that challenge me and make me think about life and philosophy and anything and everything, but sometimes I just want to fall into a simple story. These are the times I reach for YA or Romance books.

July is the time to celebrate your independence! Name a book that made you see fireworks. (Figuratively. Please don’t light books on fire.)

I think The Last Olympian stands WAY above all the other Percy Jackson books. It was so fast-paced and I was involved the entire time. It wasn’t quite so formulaic as the first four were, either. All of my issues with characters were resolved, I loved the role Hestia played, just ah. I felt 100% satisfied with the series after reading this book.

August is the hottest month of the year. Pick an up-and-coming author that you think will be the next hottest thing.

September is time for students to go back to school! Pick a book you read for school that you actually enjoyed.

I forgot about this book until just now and I want to re-read it. It’s a retelling of Sleeping Beauty, but not. It’s about a family and the Holocaust and I absolutely loved that we got to read it for school. 15-year old me thought it was amazing.

AND my birthday is in September!! The best present I’ve ever gotten was my old cat, Firecracker. She’s gone now but she was the most amazing cat in the whole world. Even if she was ridiculously fluffy and coughed up hairballs no matter what I did to prevent them.

October is time to celebrate Halloween! Pick one character that you would love to dress up as for Halloween.

I think I should probably dress up as Tris because I can not even tell you the number of people who have told me I look exactly like her. But I would LOVE to dress up as Danaerys because she’s a bad ass and I love her. Plus dragons.
