Grand Accumulation of Book Hauls…

I AM NOT A BOOK HOARDER.

Okay, maybe I am. But don’t tell. Because the first step to solving a problem is admitting you have one, and I don’t want this problem to be solved.

I just came home from a trip to Half Price Books and realized I have accumulated quite a few books in the past couple of months that I haven’t shared with all of you! Also, I love book haul posts because I get to admire my treasures without just creepily stroking them in a Gollum-like fashion. So let’s go.

Me Before You – Jojo Moyes
I have heard fantastic things about Station Eleven and Me Before You; I just can’t resist jumping on the bandwagon with these two! Go ahead authors, rip my heart out.

Attachments – Rainbow Rowell
I already finished Attachments and I really enjoyed it which I’m excited about because that means I’m not just a Grinch who hates Rainbow’s books!

The House at Riverton – Kate Morton
I have never heard of The House at Riverton, but I’m intrigued by the excerpt and I feel like I only read books I have prior knowledge of from the blogging world. Sometimes, I just want to read a book I have no expectations for.

Confessions of a Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella
I adore Sophie Kinsella’s writing, but it’s been a long time since I’ve read one of her books. I loved the Shopaholic movie, so I decided to pick this one up as my cutesie read!

And a special appearance by my cat, Leo. Don’t let his adorable fluffy face deceive you, he’s a devil cat.

Ink and Bone – Rachel Caine
A Darker Shade of Magic – V. E. Schwab
Ah my lovely little fantasies. I received both Ink and Bone and A Darker Shade of Magic from my lovely TBTB Secret Santa! I’ve been coveting both of them for quite some time and I still can’t wait to read them. I think that the cover of A Darker Shade of Magic is one of my favorite covers of all time. And I LOVE the premise of Ink and Bone, I can’t wait to hear what could have happened if the Library of Alexandria hadn’t been burned.

The Name of the Wind – Patrick Rothfuss
There’s been quite a lot of buzz around The Name of the Wind lately, and apparently this first book revolves around magic and boarding school. How could I resist?!

geishaGone With the Wind – Margaret Mitchell

If you have an outstanding memory, you may remember that Gone With the Wind is one of my 12 books to read in 2016. So of course, I had to buy a copy, right? I looove searching for gorgeous copies of older books like this one. I have a similar edition of Les Miserables and they look marvelous together.

Never Let Me Go – Kazuo Ishiguro
I have no idea what this book is about, but I’m SO CURIOUS.

Memoirs of a Geisha – Arthur Golden
I remember being very aware of this movie when it came out, but I wasn’t old enough to watch it. Last weekend my boyfriend and I went to a Japanese steak house and our drinks were served in porcelain Geisha mugs. My interest was piqued and I decided I really wanted to read the book; I’ll probably be picking this one up very soon.

I’ve read the first 40 pages or so of this and so far, I love it.

Lord of the Flies – William Golding
Another of my 12 books to read in 2016! I don’t know when I’m going to read this, I just know that I want to at some point this year.

Wolf Hall – Hilary Mantel
I’ve wanted to read this for quite some time. I am fascinated by anything dealing with King Henry VIII. Also, this won the Man Booker, so I fully expect it to be scintillating.

The Book Thief – Markus Zusak
My TBTB Secret Santa got me this book as well :) She was just wonderful. For a long time, I’d go to bookstores and see it and it felt like such an obvious choice that I never actually bought it, but The Book Thief is definitely a must-read so I’m happy to finally have it on my shelf.

The Shadow of the Wind – Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Can I be a hipster for one minute and say that The Shadow of the Wind has been on my TBR since around 2012 when I first discovered Goodreads? Even though the book was released in 2001, so I’m still way past fashionably late to the party. So I’m actually not just copying all of the Booktubers who have been reading it lately… JUST SAYIN. I am really happy that everyone has been loving it though, my interest has been rekindled.

Dear Mr. Henshaw – Beverly Cleary
This, too, is one of my 12 books to read in 2016 because it’s the favorite book of my favorite couple in my favorite movie, and I haven’t read it which is just tragic.

In case you were wondering, that movie is called Stuck in Love and it’s amazing and on Netflix and don’t be fooled by the cheesy title or description, I stake my reputation on the fact that that movie is superb.

      Ah good, I originally thought it was a typical love story and I’ve since been corrected haha but I’m very excited to read it! Actually I’m excited for all of them, really.. :)

    haha I liked that you started this with “I am not a book hoarder!” haha also liked you describing you as stroking books gollum style- been there! Also, I know what you mean about not being a Rainbow Rowell grinch- I used to think I was going to be one after I read Eleanor and Park and didn’t like it- but was proved wrong by Carry On, which I loved! Never Let Me Go is amazing! I won’t say anymore cos *spoilers*. Memoirs of a Geisha, Book Thief and Lord of the Flies are all sensational! Also I just got Shadow of the Wind out the library- and I am not a hipster about it I’m afraid- I’ve seen it everywhere, so that’s what got me to pick it up- I plan to read it after I finish what I’m currently reading :)

    I’ve read confessions of a shopaholic years ago. I remember it being fluffy and a bit cute, but I prefer her other novel “Can you keep a secret”.

    Attachments was one of my favourites of Rainbow’s novels. It’s much more mature and I enjoyed that about it. Darker Shade of Magic is pretty good. I enjoyed the writing, and the plot was pretty interesting. There are some complaints from others about the flat characters and it’s justified in a sense, but overall I enjoyed the novel despite what others had to say about it.

    I shall look out for your thoughts about the novels if you ever get around to reading them. :D

      I loved Can You Keep a Secret. My favorite Kinsella book is Remember Me? I’ve read it a few times haha. I really liked Attachments too! I hated Eleanor and Park so I wasn’t sure if I just disliked her writing or what. I will eventually! ;)

        Haha -high five- I hated Eleanor and Park as well. Her depictions of Korean culture were half wrong, so it bothered both me and my friend. I dropped the novel. I couldn’t stand any of the characters.

        Fangirl was pretty good from her. I related to the characters very well.

        Ooh I read Remember Me the first time it was released, which was a long time ago. I should reread it. :D I enjoyed that one too.

        Have you read her latest novels? I’m not sure which one to read next. That and I’m starting to feel like each of her protagonists are the same character. haha. Do you get that feeling?

        I didn’t finish it either! I realized it was basically a modern Romeo and Juliet and I HATE that story. Uhmm yes I’ve read Twenties Girl and I’ve got Your Number, both of which are fun and typical Sophie Kinsella books. Yes the characters are very similar! I definitely read them for base entertainment and not any particular value. Sometimes you Just need a book like that!
